Unfortunately, emails including registration activation, daily digests, and more will not work at this time. This impacts new users who are signing up. This is because our previous mail service, SendGrid, eliminated their free tier today which we were using for years now to send outbound mail. The lowest paid package is too costly for the amount of emails we send, so I decided to switch the community over to Amazon Simple Email Service (SES).
While I’ve confirmed mail flow works under Amazon SES for our domain, it is only able to send to my email at the moment since the account is in Sandbox mode.
In order to get out of sandbox mode (to production), Amazon needs to verify some things like our use case, etc. which I’ve submitted through a ticket. I am waiting for them to review the information.
I am unsure how long they will take to verify the information, but I will keep everybody updated here. I’m hoping it’ll happen soon! We rarely get any signups at the moment, so it’s not a huge issue to us right now.
